Weekly Roundup Week 28

Sure, it isn’t the most pleasant feeling to not see the likes of Higuaín holding up the Arsenal shirt yet. However, we still have to remember that teams like PSG are still working on getting Cavani, while Real Madrid are being forced to give up on Bale. The only real big name signing yet is Neymar to Barcelona.

Nevertheless, teams are making signings. Long term Arsenal target Victor Wanyama will be playing in Southampton, while another target Simon Mignolet and a former Gunner Kolo Touré will be playing in Liverpool. Then, there’s Manchester City with their signings of Fernandinho and Jesús Navas. Real Madrid is also playing stupid by signing Asier Illarramendi for £34m. Let’s not forget, the Spurs got Paulinho to beef up their midfield.

Then there’s us. With Yaya Sanogo. Hopefully more signings will come in the next couple of weeks, but so far, it seems like we are in for a long summer.

Gonzalo Higuaín

Is it just me or does it feel like Higgy might be slipping away from us? Ancelotti at least believes that Madrid has room to keep Gonzo. Bad news for Arsenal? It’s not like Higuaín is the only player that we have on our shortlist, so there’s no need to lose hope even if we miss out on him. However, the Argentine is a clinical player inside the box and it certainly wouldn’t hurt the team in anyway.

Luis Suárez

Aside from his off-the-court issues, Suárez is a quality player. A lot more complete than Higgy. However, Liverpool have slapped a £40m price tag on him. Is he worth such a price? Beats me. He’s good, but I think we can definitely use the £40m much better. Give Madrid £30m for Gonzo and use another £10m to support other signings. If we can get the Suárez fee down to something around the £30m fee, we should go all-in.

Geoffery Kondogbia

Kondogbia is quickly looking like a typical Arsenal summer signing. A fee of about £10m should do just fine for the Sevilla prodigy. We would finally have a Song replacement!

Júlio César

The club’s transfer window is about to become pretty embarrassing as the Brazil No.1 is closing in on a move to Napoli. Our GK position needs to healthy competition, but we seem to be unable to get anyone. With Begovic looking more and more likely to stay in Stoke also, Arsenal fans might have to settle with seeing Szczęsny between the posts for another six months at least!

Clément Grenier

Grenier has officially extended his contract with Lyon. This means that Arsenal will not pursue the French youngster any more. Watch this kid go to another team within three years for silly money.

Welcome to the Arsenal rumors Bernard! This kid has been touted by Ronaldinho as the next Brazilian superstar and his form with the national team suggests that he will live up to such a high praise! Local reports say that Arsenal are in the lead for the Atlético Mineiro wonderkid, but my instincts say otherwise… We’re good at picking up quality youngsters, but usually European and not exactly South American. For example, what’s up with Wellington Silva and his work permit? Is he actually going to play for Arsenal anytime soon? Hopefully Bernard can actually wear the Arsenal shirt, but in all honesty, I don’t know if we can really get someone of this mold in the near future.

Marouane Fellaini

Nothing exciting in the Fellaini side of the Arsenal transfer rumors this week. That either means we’ve lost interest in him or Wenger’s getting the job done behind everyone’s back.
