That’s right. We are just a few hours away from the club’s first Premier League match for the 2013-2014 season. With no transfers as of bar Yaya Sanogo, Arsenal enters this season with practically the same squad as last year. Will Arsenal have the quality to beat The Villians once again? We’ll have to see about that, but let’s see what we do know so far!
Arsenal won their last game against Aston Villa 2:1 at the Emirates, and have won 4 of their last 5 against the Villains, with the one game being a draw back in November 2012. The Gunners have shown tremendous strength at home against Aston Villa and with both clubs entering their first game of the season with nearly identical squads, we could expect a similar result.
We will skip this one for now, as during the pre-season, it is usually about experimenting various stuff. However, both teams enter this game on a winning form, with Arsenal beating Manchester City 3:1, while Aston Villa beat Malaga 3:2 just last week.
Sagna Koscielny Mertesacker Gibbs
Walcott Wilshere Cazorla
For Arsenal, it will be whether Cazorla plays or not. He has a slight thigh problem, but he also was on the scoresheet for Spain a couple days ago. If he can play, he will definitely help pull the strings for Arsenal. With Aston Villa, a lot of pressure will be put on Christian Benteke’s shoulders and whether the Villains can get something from this game will depend on whether Benteke can step it up or not.
